The Tea Party Movement and Occupy Wall Street both have mission statements, and emerged primarily in response to economic hardships in America. The Tea Party Movement believes that the government should play a limited role in a free market society. They do not want the government to be involved with their own financial well being and believe that the government should be less centralized or given (more state power). If the government does not curtail the increasing deficit, there could be dire consequences for the nation. The Tea Party tries to stay true to their interpretation of the Declaration of Independence as the authors had intended them to be read. The Tea Party Movement believes strongly that our government should have a strong government foundation tied to Judeo-Christian beliefs, as well as the government having a strict stimulus plan without debt. The Tea Party's mission statement states that the organization does not address social problems. Occupy Wall Street believes that big corporations should not have an influence over the government, and that powerful corporations shouldn’t profit at the expense of the people and their rights. Money and power should not compromise justice and democracy in a society. Occupy Wall Street has compiled a list of grievances found in their mission statement, which show how corporations have managed to negatively affect many aspects of society. Some of these alleged problems with corporations include the violation of human rights, the destruction of the environment, inequality in the workplace, and putting consumers at risk by virtue of their products. The Occupy Wall Street mission statement also talks about how they accept all different kinds of people (as propaganda) and use people's assembly to gain popularity and power. The Tea Party and Occupy Wall Street also claim to have a strong lineage to the Declaration of Independence.
*Tea Party & Occupy Wall Street have disagreements but both of them serve the same purpose*

Interesting that both claim to represent the people yet they have conflicting views.
