Both movements emerged out of the economic hardships of America. The Tea Party Movement believes that the government should have a limited role in society. They do not want the government to be involved with their own financial well being. They believe that the government should be less centralized. Occupy Wall Street believes that big corporations should not have an influence over the government, and that powerful corporations shouldn\u2019t profit at the expense of the people and their rights.","replyPages":[{"page":0,"digests":[],"more":0}]},{"id":"45066392","dateCreated":"1319662988","smartDate":"Oct 26, 2011","userCreated":{"username":"avdice","url":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/user\/view\/avdice","imageUrl":"https:\/\/ssl.wikicdn.com\/i\/user_none_lg.jpg"},"monitored":false,"locked":false,"links":{"self":"https:\/\/4pmclasswiki.wikispaces.com\/share\/view\/45066392"},"dateDigested":1532093154,"startDate":null,"sharedType":"discussion","title":"Left leaning media on occuppy wall street","description":"Judging from the articles that were read from msnbc and Huffington Post, which are typically considered as left leaning, it was obvious that they wrote favorably of the movement. Immediately, they wanted to relate the movement to the people by claiming to represent the "99% of the country." According to their research, the wealthy people of this country, 1% of our population, have almost tripled their income in the last 30 years. This is alarming because the middle class' income has only increased by just under 40%. They want to return to democracy by ending corporate influence in our government. They portray the protesters as restorers of true democracy and portray the police and national guard as brutal in their attempt to extinguish the occupation.","replyPages":[{"page":0,"digests":[],"more":0}]},{"id":"45064934","dateCreated":"1319661904","smartDate":"Oct 26, 2011","userCreated":{"username":"spicerde","url":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/user\/view\/spicerde","imageUrl":"https:\/\/ssl.wikicdn.com\/i\/user_none_lg.jpg"},"monitored":false,"locked":false,"links":{"self":"https:\/\/4pmclasswiki.wikispaces.com\/share\/view\/45064934"},"dateDigested":1532093154,"startDate":null,"sharedType":"discussion","title":"The Left Leaning Media on the Tea Party","description":"http:\/\/www.mrc.org\/realitycheck\/realitycheck\/2011\/20110801033203.aspx<\/a>
